MATTHEW WRIGHT JOINS WESTBROOK RACING AS RACE ENGINEER FOR E1 EVENTS

Monaco, 17 July 2025 –  Westbrook Racing is pleased to welcome Matthew “Matt” Wright as Race Engineer for the remainder of the 2025 E1 Championship season. Wright joins the team in a dedicated role for E1 race weekends while continuing his full-time position at Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains, where he works on development of the most advanced electric powertrains across motorsport and future road car platforms.

A highly regarded engineer with experience across Formula 1, Formula E, and the British Touring Car Championship, Matt brings a deep understanding of high-performance environments and a sharp analytical approach. His background includes trackside operations, data analysis, and mechanical design—skills that are directly transferable to the fast-paced demands of electric powerboat racing.

At Westbrook Racing, Wright will work alongside Farhaan Shaikh in the Performance and Race engineering function at the E1 events, working closely with pilots, performance staff to support race execution and strategic decision-making.

Phil Allen, Team Principal of Westbrook Racing, commented: “Having someone of Matt’s calibre involved, is a great asset for the team. His experience in elite motorsport and his structured, calm approach to engineering brings real value on race weekends. We’re fortunate to have his support as we continue pushing for event wins this season and into Season 3.”

Matt’s involvement underscores Westbrook Racing’s commitment to elevating its technical capabilities and drawing from the very best of the wider motorsport world to compete at the forefront of electric racing.
